A new migratory drama mourns Venezuela. A mother has alerted the media after the disappearance of her daughter, her son-in-law and their two children. All four have started crossing the Darien, a forest that separates Colombia from Panama, the new migratory route for thousands of Venezuelans each year, with the hope of reaching the United States.

The last time Yuni Elvira heard from her daughter was on May 10 and she was about to cross the Darien plug, this swampy forest that has become a very busy migratory route.
If the path is very borrowed, it is not less difficult. You have to cross sometimes violent streams, make your way through the jungle. Yuni’s daughter, Yuelviri, started this journey with her husband and their two children aged 3 and 4, with the hope of settling in the United States.
A new crime
But no news for two weeks now while the crossing lasts on average between 4 and 8 days. It is therefore the concern for the relatives. Like Yuelviri, they were 250,000 last year to have borrowed it, including a majority of Venezuelans.
The geography of the region makes it a must and this has led to all new crime, Colombian gangs now act as smugglers. No reliable figures, however, concerning the number of deaths in the Darien plug each year.
