The region’s requirements: No reporting obligation in care

The requirement is set by a decision of the regional board, reports P4 Malmöhus. The governing parties Moderates, Liberals and Christian Democrats agreed with the initiator of the decision, opposition leader Henrik Fritzon (S). The chairman of the regional board, Carl Johan Sonesson (M), for his part, sees no contradiction between the decision and the policy that his party pursues at the national level.

“Before a bill is drawn up, it must go out for consultation, and then we think it is wise to point out early on that healthcare in particular, regarding emergency healthcare, must be able to have exemptions from the obligation to report,” he tells P4 Malmöhus.

On Thursday, Migration Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard (M) told TT that, despite criticism, the government is not backing down from the proposal to force teachers, healthcare workers and social workers to report the undocumented, and that an investigation will be set up shortly.

She also pointed out that the investigator should be tasked with considering whether exceptions are needed in situations that would conflict with sensitive values, such as in healthcare.
