Throne and Liberty was considered a great hope for 2023 for many MMORPG fans. Closed beta testing started this morning and some players are far from excited.
What is Throne and Liberty all about? The game, originally titled Lineage Eternal, failed a test in 2017 and was then revised over several years. This is how the new project called “Throne and Liberty” came about.
After the announcements and the epic trailers, players expected a breakthrough or at least a title that can successfully last for many years.
Since the beta test in South Korea, however, it doesn’t look like it at the moment: Throne and Liberty has been heavily criticized.
What disappoints the players? In a YouTube video by “guru” you can see how his game character hunts and kills wolves by himself. Meanwhile, “guru” is standing in front of his desk with a clown’s nose and wig. He speaks to the camera:
Hey guys, we’re in the middle of the game Throne and Liberty as you can see. It’s a highly dynamic and impactful fight, and we’re cheering for my character right now because I can’t even do anything. So we give him moral support with a clown wig so he can hunt wolves even faster.

The automatic hunt function seems to be the most criticized because: The game character hunts, collects and moves completely alone, without you actively interfering. Sounds kind of like making work easier, but at the same time it takes away a large part of the gameplay that characterizes such games – especially when it comes to fighting.
A Reddit thread describes how you can automatically follow quests after character creation without having to do much for it. The character even walks the necessary distances independently. In a leveling area you will meet wolves that you have to kill to level up and the game does that automatically too.
The website MMORPG.org.pl summarized more reviews of Thrones and Liberty. The players are particularly bothered by the unimpressive graphics, the weak combat system, the undemanding tasks, leveling using quest grinding and a Pay2Win option, with which you can even level up when you are already logged out.
Not the best prospects, especially since the latest information from leaks and interviews didn’t sound so good.
