Blick Bassy the music flows naturally

The Cameroonian singer Blick Bassy returns with a fifth opus, four years after “1958”, inspired this time by the concern for the scarcity of water and its vital importance. A captivating album imagined as a poetic and ecological plea.

For many, the name Madiba evokes Nelson Mandela. Blick Bassy’s new album speaks well of Madiba, but in the Douala language of Cameroon: ” Madiba means water.

Water is a source of life, of benefits for human beings, to quench their thirst, but also to grow the trees that shelter them, the plants that treat them or the products of the earth that nourish them. Also a source of concern and awareness in the face of global warming.

It is therefore not at all surprising that Blick Bassy seizes it and makes it the theme of an album both rooted in tradition and modernity through the texts, the music and the sound, with an airy voice that flows like the river that digs the furrow of the future in the land of the ancestors.

Madiba » the fifth album of Blick Bassy was released by InFiné.

At the end of the show, Clara Gabillet takes us on a tour of the exhibition Paris, capital of gastronomy, from the Middle Ages to the present day installed at the Conciergerie de Paris until July 16, 2023.
