New World has announced the upcoming Blood of the Sands update. This is the second major quarterly update, which brings a lot of content with it, but also removes one content. We at MeinMMO present them to you.
What’s in the update?
In addition, the patch brings a transmog system, which should not be activated until the middle of the season. Using Transmog Tokens, you can adopt the look of any gear collected in the world. How exactly you get these brands is currently unknown. However, the system has been requested since the release.
The developers have also decided to disable the First Light area. You will no longer be able to enter this starting in July.
When will the update appear? Blood of the Sands will be released on July 2nd. However, if you don’t want to wait until then, you can use the PTR from May 25 at 7:00 p.m. The update can be tested there in advance.
A giant desert worm as a raid boss and one less area for a few months
What is behind the raid boss? Shah Neshen the Eater is a giant desert worm infesting the newest area, the Sulfur Sands Desert. You could already see him in the game from time to time, but not fight him. That will change.
He can be challenged in his own arena. There you fight with a group of 20 players against him. Each participant must have reached at least the max level.
Many details are still missing, such as whether the fight has other requirements or what rewards there are and how often you can get them. These questions should be clarified in a few days on the PTR.
What is the area about? With the update, First Light will be temporarily removed from the game. There is a wall of thorns all around. It will be completely revised and then reactivated with the first expansion in the fall. The roadmap for 2023 already indicated this.
Developers say they have “big plans” for the area. It is not yet known what exactly will change.
However, a blog post explained exactly what happens to the area’s contents:
What do you think of the changes from the update? Are you looking forward to the raid boss and the new season content? Or is New World rather cold for you at the moment?
You can find out here why the Season Pass was a good innovation: I’m having more fun in New World than I have in a long time and the Battle Pass is to blame.
