Canada beat the Czech Republic 3-1 in Riga. Thus, Canada is the runner-up in Group B. The USA beat Sweden in overtime in a heated match and took the victory in Group A.

The quarter-final opponent of the Lions in the men’s hockey world championships has survived. Canada defeated the Czech Republic 3–1 to secure second place in Group B. Consequently, Canada will face third-placed Finland in Group A in the quarterfinals in Tampere on Thursday evening at 8:20 p.m.
