“The court granted the investigator’s request to extend the detention until August 30,” Russian state media reported, citing representatives of the court.
Gershkovich, who works for The Wall Street Journal, was arrested at the end of March in Yekaterinburg, Russia, and is accused of espionage.
If convicted, he faces 20 years in prison. The US government formally designates the 31-year-old as falsely imprisoned.
