Here, 600 square dancers break loose at Halmstad arena: “Tired in the feet”

– Came into existence during the 19th century in America in connection with the great emigration when the dances of several countries were combined.

– Reached Europe in the 1950s and quickly became popular.

– Based on the dancers learning small short tours (calls). A dance leader (caller) calls out commands and dance combinations that the participants follow.

– Danced at ten different levels or degrees of difficulty. Some examples are Mainstream, A2 and C3B.

– In Sweden there are around a hundred clubs, four of which are in Halland (Halmstad, Kungsbacka, Laholm and Falkenberg).
