For a long time, it looked like Dune: Part Two would be the biggest sci-fi highlight of the year. But then announced a few weeks ago at the CinemaCon another sci-fi blockbuster that hardly anyone had on the screen before: The Creator. It is Gareth Edwards’ latest directorial effort.
Edwards had his big break with Monsters in 2010 before bringing the Godzilla reboot and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story to the big screen. For the past several years, he’s poured his entire manpower into The Creator – and this is the first trailer to every second to note. Get ready for a special sci-fi movie.

The Creator takes place in a future where war has broken out between mankind and an artificial intelligence. The ex-soldier Joshua (John David Washington) is supposed to bring down the architect of the AI and bumps into it android childwhich can change the course of history forever.

That The Creator so looks incredibly good, has a reason. Edwards has brought along Rogue One cinematographer, Greig Fraser, who is also responsible for the powerful visuals of the Dune films. Joining them is production designer James Clyne, who has been involved with numerous Star Wars and sci-fi projects in the past.
Sci-Fi Highlight 2023: When does The Creator start in cinemas?
The Creator launches on September 28, 2023 in German cinemas. Disney is releasing the film under the 20th Century Studios banner. Dune: Part Two will follow about a month later. We can be curious to see which of the two films ultimately takes the sci-fi crown of the cinema year 2023.
