Dramatic footage shows a banner plane crashing in the middle of Hollywood.
At least one person has died, they say CBS.
– As soon as the plane crashed, it was completely engulfed in flames, says a spokesperson for the city.
It was during Wednesday afternoon, local time, that the small, yellow banner plane began to lose altitude.
After a few minutes, the plane crashed in a shopping center parking lot near Hollywood Boulevard.
– As soon as the plane crashed, it was completely engulfed in flames and emergency services struggled to put out the fire, Hollywood city spokesperson Deanne Bettineschi told CBS.
The victim loved fishing
On board the aircraft was a male pilot who died instantly. A friend of the man described him as a friendly and humble person who loved to fish.
Witness Rhonda Martinez says she saw the plane lose altitude very quickly.
– My father is a trained pilot and as soon as I saw it I knew the plane had problems. This is heartbreaking, she told CBS.
Now the FAA, the Federal Aviation Administration, will investigate the accident to get answers to what actually went wrong.
