Geoghegan Hart was third overall before the eleventh stage, five seconds behind the leader and team-mate Geraint Thomas. He had good chances to score further – but an accident put an end to it.
With 70 kilometers to go, several cyclists belonging to the Ineos bicycle stable ran into each other. It led to great chaos with Tao Geoghegan Hart suffering the worst when he fell over. The 28-year-old was taken to hospital by ambulance and according to the AFP news agency, the British cycling star has suffered a broken leg.
