The German Pascal Ackermann (UAE) won the 11th stage of the Tour of Italy in the sprint on Wednesday in Tortona, marked by the abandonment after a fall of Tao Geoghegan Hart, third in the general classification. Briton Geraint Thomas, teammate of Geoghegan Hart at Ineos, retains the pink leader’s jersey which he had recovered after the withdrawal of the big favorite, the Belgian Remco Evenepoel, due to a positive control for Covid-19. Ackermann was ahead of the Italian Jonathan Milan (Bahrain) and the Briton Mark Cavendish (Astana) at the photo finish during a sprint disputed by a reduced peloton, after 219 km, in the longest stage of this 106th edition.
