Frida Karlsson’s requirements to return to the national skiing team have now been revealed: “It’s important”

Frida Karlsson, Maja Dahlqvist and Linn Svahn are back in the national team again.
Now one of the demands that the skiing stars had is revealed.
– It’s about us talking together about what the girls want, says national team manager Anders Byström to SVT Sport.

It was before the last ski season that the national team stars Frida Karlsson, Maja Dahlqvist and Lynn Svahn chose to break away and leave the national ski team. They want to run on their own training plans during the pre-season in order to build up the body in the best possible way before a ski season with the WC as the big goal.

Back in the national team

The trio also succeeded very well during this year’s ski WC, where Frida won a medal in all WC races she entered, Maja won WC bronze in the relay and Linn impressed with two strong fourth places. But a year later, all three have now returned to the Swedish national skiing team again.

One of the demands that the star trio made of the national ski team in order to agree to a return was more flexibility in the training schedule. They have now succeeded in getting that through, and therefore Sweden is starting an investment in high-altitude training after the skiers had it as their wish.
– Yes, they actually have. Not by all, but by some. We will have the flexibility that you can ride at altitude, but you can also be at home and train, says the national team manager Anders Byström to SVT Sport and tells more about the new training plan.
– The difference is not that big, it’s about the same sporting path – we have a successful path, we’ve had our best season ever and we’re not going to change big things. It’s about us talking together about what the girls want and what the boys want, with some height involved before the Olympics in 2026. Admittedly, it’s not going to be at height, but we want to work on height training on the way there.

Frida admits

Frida Karlsson is looking forward to exploring high altitude training more in the coming season.
– I’m not that old and I don’t have much experience at high altitudes. I see it as a very good opportunity this year when there is no championship to try my hand and get the experience I need, the Swede admits to the television channel.
– That road is probably a little untested for me.

After the breakout trio’s comeback in the Swedish national ski team, the skiers will have more of a say in the activities and training at the national team level.
– We have listened before as well, but now they really got to participate and agree. I think that is important. They are individual athletes, but you also want to do it as a team – then you need to talk together, says national team manager Byström in the interview.
