In League of Legends there has been a dispute between the Belgian LoL pro Yasin “Nisqy” Dinçer and a Spanish caster in the last few days. After the tempers were running high, Riot Games has now decided to punish the incident with a warning.
Was that the situation? Nisqy is the mid laner for Spanish team MAD Lions, the European champions.
He is currently playing the MSI tournament with his team and, as is usual for European teams, the top teams from Korea receive resounding slaps in the face.
Playing against T1, Faker’s team, they suffered a resounding 0-3 defeat. You lost a match in 17 minutes – that’s a disgrace.
Belgians are criticized for being too happy after defeat
This is how the dispute came about: After the match, a Spanish caster tweeted a picture of himself contrasting two pros who lost to MAD Lions:
The caster wrote: This is the difference between a winner and a loser. These images would also reflect the level of performance of the two in the game.
So translated: The noble Spaniard takes the defeat seriously and suffers, the Belgian laughs it away.
“Is your mother a whore?”
This is how the dispute escalated: Nisqy then tweeted, “Is your mom a whore?” But quickly deleted the tweet. He said he didn’t want to create any more problems.
How is this discussed? The pundits were mostly on Nisqy’s side, saying the criticism that he didn’t look “sad enough” was wrong — and Nisqy’s performance wasn’t as bad as portrayed.
One pro said: Twitter is full of people with big opinions and little clue. People would criticize teams without knowing how they play and work.
Riot Games leaves it with a warning
This is the decision of Riot Games now: As a professional, Nisqy must conduct itself according to Riot Games rules. So the freak out now prompted an investigation and decision.
But apparently Riot Games also understands that Nisqy was provoked here on Twitter. He only gets off with a warning for “behaviour that is not appropriate for a member of the LEC.”
In other cases, professional players had received fines of 500 to 5,000 euros or even a suspension of 2 games.
