Lockwood & Co can’t go on. The Young Adult series about a group of young detectives who hunt ghosts in an alternative London, was canceled by Netflix after one season. Fantasy fans are anything but enthusiastic.

As Variety reports, Netflix has the series based on a template by Jonathan Stroud withdrawn from the program for financial reasons. In response to Stroud’s confirmation (via Sportskeeda), many fans poured out their hearts on Twitter.
“My daughter grieves like she’s lost a friend“, complains about a mother about the dismissal. “Netflix made huge mistakesAnother fan notes. A third viewer blames the streamer’s own strategy: “Netflix didn’t lift a finger to promote the series. So she couldn’t get the necessary numbers.”

It is by no means the first time that the streamer has decided not to renew a series after the first season this year. The previous Netflix cancellations in 2023 include fan favorites such as 1899 or Man vs. Bee.
