What: Ice Hockey World Cup, Group A.
Where: Nokia Arena, Tampere.
When: Monday at 19.20.
TV/radio: SVT2/SVT Play and P4 Radiosporten.
So far in the World Cup, Finland: USA 1–4, Germany 4–3. Sweden: Germany 1–0, Austria 5–0.
Unbeaten streak: Eight times in history, Sweden has met Finland on Finnish soil in the context of the World Cup – and never lost. There have been four Swedish victories and four draws since the first meeting in 1965 in Tampere.
Even Finnish battles: The rivalry between Sweden and Finland has been a real nail-biter in recent times. The last three championship games have all gone to extra time or penalties. In last year’s two meetings, Tre Kronor won the World Cup group stage in Tampere 3–2 after penalties, while Finland turned around and won 4–3 after extra time in the Olympic group stage in Beijing. The teams also met in the World Cup quarter-finals in 2019 when Finland won 5–4 after extra time.
