During Russia’s military intervention in Ukraine, civilians took shelter in metro stations in the capital, Kiev.
It was stated that there were many elderly, women and children at the stations, and that water and food aid were provided to the people.
COMMON SENSE CALL FROM THE MAYOR
Mayor of Russian-occupied Kharkov, Igor Terehov, went to the metro station where the people took shelter and called on the people to show common sense.
Terehov said, “I called you to get down to the metro stations, as the bomb fell on the city at 15.00.
I gave orders to stop train and metro services” and asked the people of Kharkov not to leave the metro stations. (AA-UAV)
