Sick woman suspected of being drunk – died
The police took a woman in her 60s into custody under the Act on Handling Intoxicated Persons after an ambulance assessment. After cardiac arrest in custody, the woman was taken to the County Hospital in Kalmar. There, a brain hemorrhage was found, which was deemed to have caused her intoxication-like symptoms. She later died of the brain hemorrhage.
Now chief physician Gunhild Nordesjö Haglund has reported the incident according to lex Maria, according to Region Kalmar county which on its website writes “measures have been taken to reduce the risk of a repetition of the incident”. Ambulance healthcare in Kalmar County falls under the chief physician’s area of responsibility.
