Restaurant operator NoHo Partners emphasizes that the pricing is in line with other large public events.

TAMPERE. A hockey fan’s wallet is once again put to the test in Tampere. Like a year ago, the high price of beer in particular has become a topic of conversation. In the hall, the price of a pint has risen by 30 cents since last year to 9.20 euros.

Married couple Tiina and Harri Valkonen Kuopio considers the WC prices very high.

– It’s damn expensive: hotels, drinks, everything. In the World Cup, you can pay double the normal amount. We are here for one game and one night. Ton’s trip, Harri Valkonen enumerates.

In the fan area, half a liter of beer costs 11 euros. At the same time, in Riga, Latvia, a half-liter pint goes for six euros in the fan area. Tampere therefore has almost double the price compared to the other host city.

Restaurant operations in the Tampere Arena and in the World Cup fan areas are run by NoHo Partners. I saw the manager Miko Helander NoHo Partners explains the rather high price of beer:

– Disconnected from the world-class event and the hockey world championships, the price can seem high. When you compare the pricing to other big events or high-class festivals, the price is very much in line, says Helander.

He reminds us that pricing is a balancing act between inflationary pressure and consumers’ purchasing power.

– The price of a pint is based on its total costs and our margin. The general increase in consumer prices this year is about 3.3 percent, but in terms of restaurant services, there are big cost pressures in addition to raw materials, logistics, energy costs and wages.

The discussion about the price of beer is now taking place for the second year in a row at the World Cup. In the last games, NoHo sold around 100,000 liters of beer, so there will be sales regardless of the price.

On the other hand, the restaurant operator has received good feedback from customers, for example, about the quality of the hamburgers sold in the hall.

Did you consider lowering the price of beer for these games for image or other reasons?

– With the current increase in the cost level, it was not possible for the price to decrease.

There is a difference in the prices of entrance tickets just like there is in the case of beer. Friday’s World Cup openers were big games for both Finland and Latvia.

Finland met USA in Tampere. The premium category ticket cost 235 euros, the first category 195 euros, the second 165 euros and the third 95 euros.

Latvia, on the other hand, hosts Canada. The most expensive ticket cost 135 euros, the first category ticket cost 99 euros, the second 89 euros and the third 49 euros.

Spiky, the mascot of the Games, can be bought for 35 euros both in Tampere and in Riga.

Finland will play against Germany on Saturday night in a match that started at 20:20. Urheilu follows the World Cup in this article.
