Who is MrBeast? MrBeast is a YouTuber who primarily produces two types of content. On the one hand, there are unusual projects that make headlines, such as the reenactment of the Netflix series Squid Game.
On the other hand, he also spends his money on charitable causes. In the latest video, MrBeast bought over $3 million worth of hearing aids to help 1,000 people who are deaf (via YouTube).
Recently, the rich YouTuber invested in another massive project and bought several properties for his employees. Some Twitter users didn’t like that at all.

MrBeast probably bought houses within a neighborhood. According to the New York Post, the properties are said to be located in Greenville, North Carolina.
A former resident named Bowden, who sold his home to the YouTuber last year, spoke to the American media outlet. He reported that MrBeast told him about his plans for using the houses: making them available for his employees and their families to live in.
How is the community reacting? With his action, MrBeast splits the opinions of the community. Many Twitter users are reacting negatively to the news of MrBeast’s purchase. For example, @XBrittanyDukeX writes, “Corporate towns are bad because now he controls everything in their life whether they realize it or not. Next he will buy an entire state for all his followers.“
Another person commented that the employees would have to move if they lost their jobs. She sees that as toxic.

What does MrBeast answer to the criticism? On May 11, 2023, the YouTuber responded to a comment by @umeprobdupree on Twitter. The user wrote, “What a nice man, a CEO who buys houses and creates neighborhoods for his employees’ families certainly has no historical relevance or background.”
He later posted an article on feudalism, which describes a form of society in the Middle Ages in which a sovereign leaves lands to his followers.
MrBeast responded to the criticism: “Only I could get canceled for giving people housing with no strings attached. All these company city tweets don’t make any sense, I was just helping some people.”
