Four Pinery Provincial Park cabins are being rebuilt with $827,000 from the province, government officials say.
That means the cabins at the Grand Bend-area park will be there for people to enjoy for decades to come, Lambton-Kent-Middlesex MPP Monte McNaughton said in a release.
The project is part of a two-year, $41.7-million provincial program to upgrade and maintain Ontario’s more than 300 parks, the release said.
Upgrading infrastructure is part of improving visitor experience, Environment, Conservation and Parks Minister David Piccini said in the release.
There were more than 12.1 million visits to Ontario parks in 2022 and nine per cent more overnight camping than in 2021, “which goes to show the increasing demand,” he said.
