The Instagram account “politikermat” cooks and reviews our Swedish politicians’ favorite dishes. Now they reveal which dishes are good and which should be avoided.
Behind the popular Instagram account are Klara-Lovisa Lundström, Clara Popenoe Thor and Laura Ingemarssson. Contrary to what one might think, none of the account holders have any burning interest in food.
– We are incredibly uninterested in food, but you have to eat otherwise you die. So we thought that if we combine the best we know – politics, with the worst we know – cooking, maybe we’ll start eating, says Klara-Lovisa Lundström.
The Instagram account accommodates all kinds of dishes. Clara Popenoe Thor tells us that some politicians try to cook dishes that have a political point.
– The Women’s Association of the Moderates had a whole cookbook with recipes linked to the square and root deduction. Others are just politicians who enjoy cooking, she says.
“Bean smoothie with garlic”
The strangest recipe, which they found in the Social Democrats’ newspaper “Aktuellt i politiken”, is supported by Karin Wanngård (S), the Financial Citizens’ Council for the City of Stockholm.
– Her lunch is usually a bean smoothie with garlic in it. We have tried it and it is among the most disgusting things I have eaten in my entire life, says Klara-Lovisa Lundström.
There are also good recipes, the girls’ favorite recipe is quince strips, a recipe that comes from the Minister for the Elderly and Social Security, Anna Tenje (M).
– It’s among the best we’ve cooked, but that doesn’t say much about it, I think, it says more about the other, says Klara-Lovisa Lundström.
