Nearly 400 painters across the country have gone on strike in protest against the fact that the employers want to remove the competence requirement. Now the union also announces a further strike on May 24.
The Swedish Association of Painters fears that a scrapped competence requirement would deteriorate the status of the profession and in the long run lead to low wages.
Another sticking point is the time for probationary employment, which the employers want to be extended. The parties had until 12 noon to come to an agreement, which did not happen.
