Donald Trump is convicted of sexual assault and defamation of journalist E Jean Carroll in 1996.
The ex-president is at the same time acquitted of the accusations of rape.
He must pay five million dollars in damages.
E. Jean Carroll, 79, sued Trump last year, accusing him of raping her in a New York department store in the mid-1990s.
Carroll also claimed Trump defamed her when he accused her of lying when she first came forward with the allegations in 2019.
On Tuesday evening, the New York jury announced that Trump was acquitted of rape, but convicted of sexual assault and defamation.
He must pay a total of five million dollars in damages.
