According to national media reports, Pakistani Justice Movement Party (PTI) leader Khan arrived in Islamabad from Lahore to attend the hearings of the cases against him. Khan was arrested by paramilitary units outside the Islamabad High Court.
DON’T KNOW WHY HE HAS BEEN ARRESTED
Faisal Chaudri, one of the PTI lawyers, confirmed the development. It remains unclear why Han was arrested, with over 90 lawsuits filed against him.
ALLEGED TORTURE AND DARP
In a statement on Twitter, one of the PTI politicians, Musarrat Çima, claimed that Imran Khan was tortured and that the paramilitary units beat him.
Former Prime Minister Imran Khan
The development came after Khan accused a senior intelligence official of being behind the assassination attempt against him.
The Pakistani military had described former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s allegations that a senior intelligence official was behind the assassination attempt against him as “irresponsible and unfounded”.
In a statement on May 7, Khan continued his allegations that Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah and Deputy Chief of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Major General Faisal Nasir were behind the assassination plot against him.
HAN IS ATTACKED
Khan started a march from Lahore to Islamabad on October 28, 2022, on the grounds that the coalition government did not declare early elections.
Khan was wounded in both legs when his convoy was fired upon in Wazirabad on 3 November 2022. One person was killed and 13 people were injured in the attack.
