WoW: Player kicks the best damage dealer from his group

It’s a topic that circulates in World of Warcraft like no other and the best example of how a community can harm itself. We’re talking about toxic players who, because of their skills, become insulting when other players aren’t doing the same.

Now a Reddit user has opened a thread and made it clear once and for all that even good players are kicked out of the raid if they behave like naughty children.

what happened Reddit user Kbearforlife was in a raid group for the AotC achievement. AotC – short for Ahead of the Curve, or in German: Ahead of the time – is awarded to players who defeat the final boss in the current raid on heroic difficulty or higher.

The group is doing great. Each boss is in the first attempt until the raid meets the brood guardian Diurna, which has also caused problems for professionals. The group does not manage to destroy the eggs and first forgets three, then four. Therefore, the raid management decides to abort the attempt.

The top DD of the raid then reacted angrily and hit the keys properly to take out his frustration on the other players. The thread creator does not reveal exactly what he wrote, only that he then removed him from the group.

It could have been particularly bitter for the hunter because the next raid is just around the corner:

What happened then? Of course, the hunter couldn’t keep his feet still. Together with two friends he wrote to the raid manager. One of the statements is quoted directly in the thread: “You kick the top DD out? You have real guts.” At 60,000 DPS, he was at the top of the stats.

The Reddit user opens a post, tells the story, and gets hundreds of replies and nearly 3,000 upvotes.

“It’s so easy not to be toxic”

Here’s how the community is reacting: There was positive feedback on the campaign. Many fans have advocated kicking out toxic teammates, even if they deal a lot of damage or serve a different role.

One user even recommends: “Super light. Just don’t use the enter key” and alludes to simply not being able to send chat messages anymore so as not to be toxic anymore. The hunter’s 60,000 DPS also caused laughter, because this number is not as special as the player thinks. In fact, the tops of the DPS list are significantly higher.

Several users also agree: “We’d rather die for hours with funny and nice people than succeed with mean players.”

More stories from the community followed. For example, Vio94 reports being in a raid where a few good DDs wreaked havoc on the group by constantly dragging mobs and making fun of them in chat. While some have attempted to protect the DDs, they have ultimately been kicked out of the raid.

Why is this such a big topic? This behavior is not new. It has been with WoW players since Classic and has experienced ups and downs depending on the current content. Especially with bosses with enrage and damage mechanics, the highest possible DPS number (for damage per second) is decisive for victory or defeat, because there is no alternative mechanic.

Because of this, there’s often an opinion within the community that scaring or pissing off the best DDs is a bad idea. Instead, you should let them do their thing and just swallow the insults.

Even tanks and healers are not safe from such heights and quickly succumb to the thought of being the best, who can afford anything. Since all players in a raid are dependent on each other, it seems reasonable to turn a blind eye to particularly good players.

The problem of elites forming in World of Warcraft comes up again and again:

Is it really so bad? Many players and fans who commented positively on the incident and acted similarly are hoping for a change within the community. Especially in the randomly thrown together groups of the LFR (Looking For Raid), the players stand up for each other and for better behavior. Because that’s how new players are finally integrated, have fun and maybe stay or want to be part of the guilds that promote cooperation.
