The future of Orsabanan is being investigated – again

– These kinds of crossings are important, and therefore they need to be investigated before deciding to tear them up, says Tony Stark, community planner at Bollnäs municipality.

One million kroner

It is not the first time that the future of the 118 kilometer long Orsabanan is up for discussion. In 2004, freight traffic was discontinued, and since 2015 maintenance has ceased.

One million kroner is expected to cost the new investigation. Ovanåker has already agreed to put up 100,000 kroner, while Bollnäs will make his decision this week.

Hoping for regional contributions

Together with the valley municipalities of Orsa and Mora and the owner company, half the sum for the investigation is collected. For the remaining half, those involved are hoping for regional contributions.
