For the 2023 elections, which is considered to be the most important election in the history of the country, various details came from the polls in 75 countries. While the number of Turkish citizens who voted abroad in 2018 was 1 million 26 thousand 152, the number of voters who voted for the 2023 elections has already exceeded 1 million 500 thousand.
HOLLAND
Voting in The Hague, Deventer and Amsterdam for the presidential and parliamentary general elections in Turkey to be held on 14 May ended on Sunday evening at 21:00 local time.
The incident broke out in Amsterdam, the capital of the Netherlands, shortly before the end of the voting process for the presidential election in Turkey. After the brawl and chaos, the Amsterdam police declared a state of emergency. Police helicopters and many ambulances were dispatched to the RAI Fair and Congress Center, where voting took place.
It was stated that about 100 people at the ballot box still remained at the RAI after the incident and secured the ballot boxes and ballot papers. The ballot boxes were taken to a safe place by the officials of the Turkish Consulate General in Amsterdam.
The ballot papers used in the Netherlands will be sent to Turkey before 14 May. Approximately 260 thousand citizens of the Republic of Türkiye have the right to vote in the Netherlands.
According to the research conducted by the Dutch think tank Clingendael Institute, the rate of Turkish voters in the Netherlands is around 56 percent.
In the 2018 elections, President Erdoğan received the biggest support in the Netherlands, after Belgium, where Turkish voters are concentrated in Europe.
73.3 percent of Turkish voters in the Netherlands preferred Erdogan. In Belgium, this rate was 74.9 percent.
NORTH MACEDONIA
Turkish voters cast their votes at the ballot boxes set up in Skopje, the capital of North Macedonia, and Tirana, the capital of Albania, on 5-7 May.
The ballot boxes were closed yesterday at the Turkish Embassies in Skopje and Tirana, as the voting process ended at 21.00 local time.
KOSOVO
Voting process has been completed for the elections to be held on 14 May in Kosovo and Turkey.
Turkish voters in Kosovo cast their votes at the ballot boxes set up at the Pristina Embassy and the Consulate General in Prizren on 6-7 May.
After the voting process ended at 21:00 local time yesterday, the polls were closed.
The ballot papers were sealed and put in sacks under the supervision of the ballot box committee and observers.
The ballot papers will be transported to Turkey by air and delivered to the Supreme Election Board (YSK).
According to YSK data, there are 4,107 registered voters in North Macedonia, 1416 in Albania and 2,192 in Kosovo.
BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA
Turkish voters in Bosnia and Herzegovina cast their votes on 5-7 May at the polls set up at the Sarajevo Embassy and the Consulates General in Mostar and Banja Luka.
After the voting process ended at 21:00 local time yesterday, the polls were closed.
The ballot papers were sealed and put in sacks under the supervision of the ballot box committee and observers.
MONTENEGRO
Voting in Montenegro, another Western Balkan country, ended at 21:00 local time yesterday.
Voting in the ballot boxes set up for the elections to be held on 14 May in Turkey for the first time in the capital Podgorica has ended.
According to Supreme Election Council (YSK) data, there are 1704 registered voters in Montenegro, whose voting process started at 09:00 am local time the previous day.
SERBIA
Voting for registered Turkish voters in Serbia was completed at 9 PM local time.
The voting process, which started yesterday morning at the ballot boxes set up in the Turkish Embassy in Belgrade and the Consulate General in Novi Pazar, ended yesterday evening.
According to the data received from the embassy, 482 people voted on the first day and 774 people on the second day in Serbia.
According to YSK data, there are 2,311 Turkish voters in Serbia.
18,984 VOTORS VOTED IN AUSTRALIA
The General Elections for President and 28th Term Member of Parliament in Australia, which started at 09:00 local time on 29 April 2023, ended today. 18 thousand 984 out of 53 thousand 500 registered voters cast their votes. 222 votes were cast at the Canberra Embassy, 8,433 votes were cast at the Sydney Consulate, and 10,329 votes were cast at the Melbourne Consulate.
Voters in Australia cast 15,200 votes in the 2018 Presidential Elections and a total of 14,894 in the 2018 Parliamentary Elections.
Mevlüde Doğan, 81, from Yozgat, cast the first vote in the early hours of the morning in the 3 ballot boxes set up in Melbourne. Saying that he has lived in Melbourne for 50 years, Mevlüde Doğan said, “Good luck to our state, our nation, all of us”.
