A week ago, the police were called to an apartment in central Örebro.
There, 20-year-old Saga was found dead, with her son in her stomach.
On Friday afternoon, a demonstration was held to honor her memory and highlight men’s violence against women.
It was an ordinary Saturday when a man, with whom she is said to have a relationship, broke into Saga’s apartment and murdered her.
– She was a warm, down-to-earth girl who cared about the family, and it was important that we stayed together. She was a very good and good friend, says her mother.
The man has been detained on probable cause on suspicion of murder.
“A City in Sorrow”
Outside the Nikolai Church in Örebro, hundreds of people have gathered on Friday to honor the memory of 20-year-old Saga.
– It is a city in mourning. Here in the main square, people have come to show their support for the family but also to stand up against men’s violence against women, says TV4’s Filippa Fernqvist on the spot.
Kashma Halmat was one of the participants in the demonstration. She lives in the same stairwell as Saga did.
– You get goosebumps just walking past her apartment when you think about what has happened. I can do nothing but send love and respect to Saga and her family. It’s so terrible, Kashma manages to say before she bursts into tears.
The lawyer: “Everyone feels very bad”
Lawyer Elisabeth Massi Fritz is representing Saga’s relatives. Her work consists of supporting and legally helping the family.
– It is tough for the family and a big shock for them. They mourn Saga and everyone feels very, very bad, says Elisabeth Massi Fritz to TV4 Nyheterna.
She also announces that the family wants to say a big thank you for all the support and love that people show.
