Study: Swedes most positive towards the rich

Sweden is the country that is most positive towards the rich according to a study by the historian Rainer Zitelmann and which is referenced in SVT’s Idébyrån.

In the study, people from several countries were asked whether they agreed with the statement that the rich should pay very high taxes to reduce the gaps.

In Sweden, only 32 percent agreed. The figure for the United States was 36 percent. The figures in France and Germany were 53 and 52 percent.

Zitelmann’s explanation is Sweden’s economic history when rich Swedes left the country because of the 1970s tax system.
