A CEO tells that he pays his colleagues for the expensive subscription to the AI bot ChatGPT. And that pays off because it improves the work.
Akash Nigam is the founder of the Geniuses company. It’s now a huge company worth $1 billion and sells tools and other projects to big stars like Justin Bieber and makes a lot of money from it. Altogether Nigam has 120 employees.
In a conversation with Businessinsider, he now explained that he pays 2,400 US dollars (about 2,000 euros) a month so that his employees can get a pro license of the AI bot ChatGPT.
And it’s paying off, he says. Because most of the time-consuming and boring tasks would simply be taken over by the AI and the free time could be better invested.
Nigam taught employees how to efficiently use AI for work
In March 2023, Nigam began encouraging every team—R&D, Engineering, Product, Finance, Design, and Accounting—to learn how to use the AI chatbot to automate repetitive tasks. Despite the investment, Nigam believes that integrating ChatGPT into his teams’ workflows will improve the company’s bottom line.

Nigam believes the bot can help his company cut costs. Because he has to hire fewer people. But the very thing that Nigam is so excited about is what many people are afraid of: They fear that the AI could become so good that they will end up without a job because the AI will replace them.
What’s next? In the future, Nigam KI also wants to be included in the performance evaluation: Employees should get good grades if they use tools like ChatGPT to “effectively accelerate” their departments. AI should therefore continue to play an important role in his company.
