The police arrested a 21 year old suspected of being a mass

According to the Serbian president, the suspect was wearing a shirt with neo-Nazi symbols. The shooting was already the second in Serbia in two days.

In Serbia, the police have arrested a man who is suspected of shooting eight people on Thursday.

According to the police, the 21-year-old suspect was arrested early Friday near the city of Kragujevac, about one hundred kilometers from the capital Belgrade.

Eight people were killed and 14 wounded when a gunman opened fire on people late Thursday in three different villages. After that he fled from the place.

The suspect was searched for at night and in the morning in a huge operation. About 600 police and soldiers searched for the suspect in the vicinity of the town of Mladenovac.

Minister of the Interior of Serbia Bratislav Gašić has called a mass shooting an act of terrorism. President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić said Friday that the suspect was wearing a shirt with neo-Nazi symbols.

Serbia’s state-run RTS channel previously reported that the suspect had been involved in an argument in the school yard. He reportedly left the scene and returned with an assault rifle and a handgun.

The man reportedly opened fire and continued shooting at people from a moving car. According to RTS, one of those who died in the shooting was an off-duty police officer.

Another shooting in a couple of days

The mass shooting happened just a day after eight students and a security guard were killed in a school shooting in Belgrade.

Three days of mourning began in Serbia today, Friday, in memory of the victims of the school shooting.

Mass shootings have been extremely rare in Serbia, despite the abundance of guns in the country.

President Vučić announced on Friday that the authorities will take steps to remove hundreds of thousands of guns from private ownership.

– We intend to implement almost complete disarmament in Serbia, Vučić said.

According to the president, the actions are aimed at both licensed and unauthorized weapons.
