Former President of the United States Bill Clinton says In an interview with the Financial Times (FT) (you go to another service) that he already knew in 2011 that it was only a matter of time since Vladimir Putin invade Ukraine.
Clinton says in an interview that she realized that Russia would attack Ukraine in the future after she had talked with Putin in Davos, Switzerland.
According to Clinton, Putin rejected his predecessor at the time Boris Yeltsin agreement, which stated that Russia would respect Ukraine’s state borders if Ukraine gave up its Soviet-era nuclear arsenal.
– Putin told me in 2011 – three years before the annexation of Crimea – that he did not agree with Yeltsin. He said, “I don’t agree with it and I don’t support it, and it doesn’t bind me.” And from that day on, I knew it would only be a matter of time, Clinton says in the magazine.
Clinton served as US president from 1993 to 2001.
