In the far east of Chad, more than 20,000 Sudanese fleeing the fighting have already taken refuge in the village of Koufroun, according to the UN. Most lost everything they owned during looting by armed men. Aid from the world food program, which is sorely lacking in funding, allows them to last a week at most, but there is uncertainty for the future, because the humanitarian workers are expecting a new massive influx of refugees.
