With Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, director James Gunn ends his trilogy about the galactic adventures of the team of heroes around Star-Lord, Rocket Racoon and Co. Without major MCU connections, the film is completely dedicated to the characters’ farewell and the end their journey together. The tearful farewell is followed by a new beginning.
You should know before you go to the cinema: If you want a glimpse of the Marvel future of the Guardians, you should stay seated in the cinema until the very end. Same two post-credit scenes await you at the end of Guardians of the Galaxy 3. We will explain both end credits to you.
From here, of course, there will be spoilers!
The first end credits scene introduces the new Guardians of the Galaxy
After defeating the High Evolutionary (Chukwudi Iwuji), the Guardians of the Galaxy disband at the end of the film and the members go their separate ways. Rocket Racoon, on the other hand, is tasked with continuing the team’s legacy. He founds a new version of the Guardians, which we are introduced to in the first end credits scene.

Rocket and Groot lead the Guardians on
The new Rocket-led Guardians of the Galaxy team exposes himself six members together:
In the end credits scene, the new Guardians are on an alien planet. Here they discuss their respective favorite music artists while waiting for their turn. Your mission: protect a village on the planet from an oncoming horde of alien creatures.
The story of the first Guardians of the Galaxy has officially been told. But the team of galactic protectors remains. Unfortunately, it is not yet known whether the adventures of Rocket’s new Guardians troop will be continued in another MCU film. However, another character will definitely return in the future:
Surprise in the post-credits scene: Star-Lord’s story isn’t over yet
At the very end of the credits, there is another bonus scene that comes up with a huge surprise. Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) now lives with his grandfather Jason (Gregg Henry) on earth. While Peter shovels his breakfast down his throat, he thinks about how things should go on for him from now on.

What’s next for Star Lord?
His grandfather is sitting across from him, just opening a newspaper. On the front page is an article in which Kevin Bacon reports on his alien abduction. This is a fun reference to the events of The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special.
At first glance, this post-credits scene looks pretty unspectacular. But then a promising lettering fills the cinema screen:
The Legendary Star-Lord Will Return / The Legendary Star-Lord Will Return
With Guardians of the Galaxy 3, some stars have finally said goodbye to the MCU. The future of others is uncertain. But not so for Chris Pratt. His character Peter Quill aka Star-Lord will be returning in an upcoming Marvel project.
Whether solo adventure or team film: It is not yet known in what form Star-Lord will return. However, since Peter Quill is now on Earth, there is a possibility that he could join the Avengers in the upcoming The Kang Dynasty or Secret Wars movies.
