It went to the seventh and final final match.
But then Djurgården fell and got a most unexpected surprise after the final whistle.
“God damn it, what a bad idea,” writes Dif supporter Daniel Breitholtz on Twitter.
Djurgården forced a seventh and decisive final game in the fight for the SHL place. After two straight victories, Dif invited maximum drama before “Game 7” against Modo on Sunday evening.
Modo for SHL
But there it was never really exciting because Modo were far too strong at home in Örnsköldsvik and won comfortably 4-0. Then the whole team got to celebrate with the home fans and rejoice at finally being back in the SHL again after seven long years in the HockeyAllsvenskan.

But Djurgården would also be allowed to receive medals and the decision to give losing teams silver medals is now seriously affecting hockey Sweden.

Dif’s disappointment
Routined the slope Nicklas Danielsson also talks about the emotions on the ice and receiving the silver medal. Together with his teammates in Djurgården, he waited a long time on the ice for the medal ceremony.
– If we had had to decide, we might have left a little earlier. It is as it is, says a disappointed Danielsson to SportExpressen.
He is then asked what he should do with the medal and answers like this:
– I might give it to the children, says Danielsson in the interview.
The fashion profile Per Svartvadet can really understand how little the zoos care about a silver medal at this point. Or even the Modospelarna for a gold medal, it ends up very much in the shadow of an SHL promotion.
– I don’t think either Modo or Djurgården care about this, says Svartvadet, who is now an expert for Radiosport, to the evening newspaper.
– It’s boring. They just wanted to get out of there. I think Djurgården was unlucky.
