Brantford man facing weapons charges after passerby threatened

Police investigating single vehicle school bus collision in Brantford

A Brantford man has been charged with using a firearm to allegedly threaten a stranger on the street.

Police received a 911 call on Saturday at about 5:20 pm reporting an armed man was threatening another man in the area of ​​Stanley and Darling streets.

Police say the victim didn’t sustain any physical injuries.

When officers arrived at the scene, the suspect had reportedly gone into a house in the area. Surveillance video from a local business indicated he may have left the area.

The area was then closed to pedestrian and vehicular traffic while police searched for the suspect. He was found in a Darling Street residence and taken into custody. Police say the weapon wasn’t located.

A 30-year-old has been charged with assault with a weapon; carry concealed weapon; and failure to comply with judicial order.

He was held for bail.
