You don’t have to empty the entire savings account when you travel. Travel writer Per J Andersson gives his best tips for cheaper travel destinations this summer.
And then he strikes an extra blow to train blundering:
– I see the trend!
The trend of train hopping continues, says travel writer Per J Andersson in Nyhetsmorgon.
– The train holiday is on the rise. More and more people are discovering it.
But seven out of ten Swedes still fly when they travel. Only five percent take the train, he believes. Although it is often cheaper if you buy an Interrail card, you can also visit several places in a short time:
– Especially when you go by train, it becomes more economical when you take the opportunity to dot in a couple of places.
The cheapest interrail card costs around SEK 2,500 and the price varies depending on the age of the traveler and the length of the journey.
It is cheap to live here
Per J Andersson advises on traveling in Eastern Europe where it is cheaper. Gdansk, Kraków and Prague are the cities he hits an extra punch for. Perfect for a mini train trap.
– In Gdansk you can get a double room for SEK 300. Then we are talking about a simple room with a bathroom in the corridor.
The idea of traveling is not to spend all the time in the room anyway, he says.
– That’s how I think about a summer holiday. I’m not going to pay thousands of kroner a night just to sleep.
If you want to avoid the large crowds, Per J Andersson’s tip is to travel at the beginning of the summer.
– If you come to Kraków at the beginning of June, it is not so crowded.
