USA: Drops vaccine requirements for foreign travelers
The USA has decided to drop the requirement for vaccination against covid-19. The announcement applies from May 11 for foreign travelers traveling to the country.
The White House announced this late on Sunday, TT reports.
The decision also applies to US government employees and to people who carry out consulting activities with the government as client.
In conjunction with the collapse, the US is officially withdrawing the issuing national emergency imposed at the beginning of the corona pandemic.

Suspected arson at loading dock
A fire has broken out at a loading dock in Täby municipality in Stockholm. According to the police, there is some smoke at the scene.
“Two people who are suspected of starting the fire have been found by security guards in the center,” the police write on their website.

The police have been alerted to several loud bangs in Upplands Väsby, north of Stockholm.
The first call came in at 9:21 p.m.

Pollen suede awaits

High concentrations of birch pollen are expected in Götaland and parts of Svealand in the coming weeks, writes TT with reference to the National Museum of Natural History’s pollen report.
The birch pollen season will last until mid-May in the south and last a few more weeks in the north, says biologist Åslög Dahl to TT.
Reasonably high temperature and moderate wind is the birch’s favorite weather.
– About fifteen degrees or more, and winds coming from the east or southeast, which is usually associated with fairly dry and stable air. Then it should blow between two and six meters per second.
The warning: Now the viper is at its most poisonous
The vipers have woken up after hibernation.
And now that the spring sun has arrived, they are at their most poisonous, says Alinda Dalla-Santa at the advisory company Animal Care Guide to TT.
However, the vipers are not aggressive creatures but bite to defend themselves, she says.
– They are never keen to bite someone. A snake would rather run than bite. When they bite, it’s because they haven’t had time to get away, she says.
The vipers often stay on rocks and try to avoid cold and shady areas, writes TT.
Car overturned in Haninge – one to hospital
A passenger car has overturned on national highway 73 at the height of Haninge, the police say.
One person has been taken to hospital by ambulance.
There is no information on the state of the damage.
Trial against Trump is not overturned

Donald Trump’s lawyers have previously demanded that the rape trial against him be annulled.
But now the judge announces that they have chosen to cancel the motion, reports CBS News.
It is the American journalist E Jean Carroll who accuses Trump of a rape that allegedly took place in the mid-1990s.

Fire in Ica store
A fire has broken out in an Ica store in Gävle, reports GD.
The entire premises must be smoke-damaged.
“We will be closed today due to cleaning. But we hope to be open tomorrow, we will get back to you about that,” writes the Ica store on Instagram.
The fire broke out at 4pm and was under control half an hour later.
No one is reported to have been injured.
Ukraine’s counter-offensive has begun
Ukraine has launched its counteroffensive in Bakhmut, reports The Kyiv Independent.
According to Ukrainian commander Oleksandr Syrskyi, the Russian forces “started to abandon their positions”.
At least 18 dead in bus crash in Mexico
At least 18 people were killed and 33 injured when a bus plunged off a cliff in the western Mexican state of Nayarit on Saturday night, local authorities said.
The bus, which fell about 15 meters into a ravine, was traveling on a highway connecting the state capital Tepic and the tourist destination of Puerto Vallarta when the accident occurred, Reuters reports.
Man arrested for aggravated assault
The police were called on Monday afternoon to a residence in Tibro municipality due to a suspected assault.
At the scene, a woman in her 40s was found with visible injuries. She is then taken to hospital by ambulance.
The suspected perpetrator is a man, also in his 40s, who is arrested in the home.
Per Åhlin is dead

Per Åhlin, the cartoonist behind Karl-Bertil Jonsson’s Christmas Eve and Dunderklumpen, among others, is dead. He was 91 years old, it says South Sweden.

Old fire station burnt out
A fire has broken out in an old fire station in Spjutstorp in Tomelilla.
The building is on fire, according to the emergency services.
– It is an old and abandoned fire station on which the roof has collapsed. We will just let it burn down, says duty officer Mats Streer.
No one is reported to have been injured.
The emergency services are now working to prevent the fire from spreading.
– It is ten meters from a house, but from the pictures I have it does not appear to be a serious risk. We are well aware of this.
The fire is suspected to be arson, the police say.

He lived to be 81 years old.
Authoritarian leader can remain in place until 2040
In Uzbekistan, 90% of the population has agreed to comprehensive constitutional changes. The election has been condemned by international observers and now means that the authoritarian president Shavkat Mirziyoyev is strengthening his iron grip on power, TT reports.
Mirziyoyev, who has already been in power for two terms and can now remain in power until 2040.
