On Sunday, police in Groningen checked a car driver who collided with a pole.
When the man tried to identify himself, he showed a Ukrainian driver’s license with a picture of former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
– As far as I know, the real Boris Johnson was not in the Netherlands at this time, the police spokesperson told AFP.
A 35-year-old man caused a police patrol in Groningen in the Netherlands to raise eyebrows when he collided with a pole during the night of Sunday.
When the police checked the man’s driver’s license, it turned out that he was driving around with a false identity. On the Ukrainian driver’s license that was presented was a picture of former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
The police themselves published a picture of the forged driver’s license. The date of birth matched that of the former British leader, but according to the ID document, the driver’s license would be valid until December 3000.
Arrested for drunk driving
The police who checked the man were able to quickly establish that it was not the real Boris Johnson who collided with the pole.
– Unfortunately for this person, we did not fall for his forgery, says police spokesperson Thijs Damstra to the AFP news agency.
– As far as I know, the real Boris Johnson was not in the Netherlands at the time.
The man, who is 35 years old, was arrested for drunk driving. It is still unclear where the fake driver’s license was issued.
