Swedish-Ukrainian chemical cooperation begins

Ukraine has applied for EU membership and last year it received the status of a candidate country.

The government of Ukraine has wished to cooperate with the Swedish authority on chemicals and now an agreement has been concluded.

“The collaboration concerns chemical control and adaptation of Ukraine’s legislation to EU regulations, as well as developing a chemical register. These are areas where the Chemicals Inspectorate has competence and experience,” says Mats Forkman, project manager at the Chemicals Inspectorate.

The agreement concerns a preparatory project to examine the conditions for a more extensive collaboration. If they are judged to be good, a project plan must be drawn up.

The collaboration is financed via Sida.
