Amazon confirms LOL season 5 – after mega record

For Michael Herbig and his LOL: Last One Laughing team, there’s reason to celebrate: the comedy series is now this most-watched German original on Amazon Prime Video in Germany and Austria. The sequel is set: the streaming service has officially commissioned LOL Season 5.

The celebrated audience favorite LOL: Last One Laughing has been part of the Amazon Prime Video streaming service since 2021. Now we can expect six more episodes in which 10 comedians compete against each other and try to to make each other laugh. If you can’t pull yourself together, you’re out.

When does LOL Season 5 start on Amazon Prime Video?

A rough start period for the new LOL episodes has already been set. Season 5 arrives Easter 2024. However, we still have to be patient for an exact date. But the most important news is that LOL: Last One Laughing continues. Now we are curious to see what the line-up for the next round looks like.

Amazon describes the concept of the series as follows:

The six-part show LOL: Last One Laughing accompanies ten of Germany’s most popular comedy, stand-up and acting professionals on their common mission: not to laugh. Because whoever laughs last wins! The unusual task: They are supposed to make their colleagues laugh, but they are not allowed to make a face themselves. Not only stand-up, character comedy or improvisation, but also full physical effort is required.

In the past, comedians such as Anke Engelke, Bastian Pastewka and Kurt Krömer delighted audiences with their gag interludes. The skit Shu Shu Shu with Engelke and Pastewka as the hit duo Jenny & Mel even became a viral sensation. According to the press release, it has been viewed more than 14 million times on Amazon’s social media channels.
