More than a decade after the Harry Potter finale hit theaters, the story of the Boy Who Lived is about to be remade. For the streaming service Max create a series, which tells the popular fantasy story over several seasons. Strictly speaking, a season is planned for each of the seven books.
We don’t yet know how many episodes these seasons will contain. At least in theory, the Harry Potter series stands out though more time available than the movies. Where a visit to Hogwarts in the cinema ends after around two and a half hours, a series can roll out the individual school years to six to ten hours.
In any case, there is plenty of material: In JK Rowling’s original book there are some events that did not make it into the previous film adaptations. We have the most interesting storylines picked out which we can envision being adapted for the first time in the Harry Potter series.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire shortens a story arc centered around Hermione’s ambitions to free the house elves from their slave status at Hogwarts. She founds the Alliance for Elf Rights
(B. ELF. R) and forces Harry and Ron to join their cause. Since this chapter already comes across as quite awkward in the book, the film quite rightly avoided this story. Perhaps those responsible for the series will still be able to convince with a new version.
The tragic love story between Lupine and Tonks
Lupine and Tonks appear in the films from the third and fifth parts respectively. Especially towards the end of the series, however, the characters move more and more into the background. It’s different in the books: Here we learn significantly more details about her complex and tragic love story. The relationship between the two becomes particularly tricky when their son, Teddy, is born. Lupine fears that he too is turning into a werewolf. And then the two die in the Battle of Hogwarts.
The heartbreaking encounter at St. Mungo’s Hospital
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is over 1000 pages long. But the film only lasts 138 minutes. One of the most notable cuts is the visit to St. Mungo’s Hospital, where Harry and company not only meet Gilderoy Lockhart, but also Neville and his grandmother. Neville visits his parents who were tortured nearly to death by Death Eater Bellatrix Lestrange. Now hardly recognize their own son. It’s one of the saddest Harry Potter chapters ever.

Speaking of The Order of the Phoenix and Neville, the book suggests that the prophecy in the Department of Mysteries (as well as Professor Trelawney’s abridged prophecy in the classroom from the film) is not necessarily unique to Harry. Before this was drawn by Voldemort, young Neville would have fitted into the profile of the chosen one, who later defies the Dark Lord. The Harry Potter series could make Neville a much bigger and more important character.
The Fate of Dumbledore’s Sister Ariana
One character who is almost completely left out of the films is Ariana, the sister of Albus and Aberforth Dumbledore. As a child, she was attacked by muggles and traumatized, so she could never properly use her magic powers. As if that wasn’t tragic enough, she later gets caught up in a duel between Albus, Aberforth and Gellert Grindelwald. While the three men survive, she will hit by a curse and dies. This dark event completely changes the history of Dumbledore.
Tom Riddle’s Extremely Dark Family Story
The films reveal some key moments that make us believe in Tom Riddle’s transformation into Lord Voldemort, from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets to Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. The series could go on and the
abysmal passages tell stories that the films didn’t dare to. It gets particularly exciting when Riddle’s radical family comes to the fore, which he half kills and blames his uncle for the murder.
A dive into the past with the Marauders
If the Harry Potter series explores the relationship between Voldemort and his parents, Harry himself could do more genealogy research as well. The adventures that his father James had as Part of the Marauders has experienced. The group also includes Remus Lupin, Sirius Black and Peter Pettigrew, while Severus Snape appears as a rival. The perfect template to immerse yourself in a Hogwarts era that was only touched upon briefly in the films.
