Monica was fined for the studded tires – despite a snow warning: “Prisoned”

SMHI had warned of a heavy snowstorm and many motorists chose to keep their winter tires on. Despite that, about fifteen were fined by the police in Kramfors – but some were allowed to drive on. – Then I was pissed off, says Monica Larsson, 58. It was on Monday that around 15 motorists were stopped at the traffic control and had to receive a fine, when they were driving with studded tyres. It is illegal to drive with studded tires after April 15 – unless there are winter road conditions, which Monica absolutely believes there was. – They had said there would be a blizzard and I said that too, she says. She says that she was stopped at the checkpoint and fined. However, other motorists with winter tires were allowed to drive on. – I stood there in the parking lot for probably 20, 25 minutes before the police came back, when he made that fine. And I heard how many people drove with studded tires, then I was pissed. The police poodle Monica is very disappointed by what happened. – It feels absolutely nothing further that they make a difference to us. Now the police are backing away from the decision to fine Monica and the other motorists. To P4 Västernorrland, Kenneth Bergqvist, head of the operational unit at the police in the North region, says that they should request that the district court remove the fine. – We have made a mistake. we want the fine to be lifted, he tells the radio.
