The State of Israel celebrates 75 years since its declaration of independence on May 14, 1948 (Israelis commemorate this day according to the Jewish calendar). Anniversary – and national holiday – against a backdrop of deep crisis: demonstrations follow one another every Saturday against the right-wing and far-right coalition of Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and against his judicial reform project which many in Israel describe as dangerous for the democracy.
