In the statement made by the Indonesian Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), it was announced that an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.3 occurred in the west of Indonesia’s Sumatra Island.
The US Geological Survey (USGS), on the other hand, announced that the earthquake was 7.1 magnitude.
