According to Pasi Tuut, incomplete playing rarely results. KuPS main owner Ari Lahti explains why KuPS fired Pasi Tuuti after only three league matches.
Kuopio Palloseura, which plays in the football Veikkausliiga, announced the head coach on Friday Pasi Tuut fired. He managed to serve as the team’s head coach in only three league matches, in which KuPS collected only one point.
Main owner of KuPS Ari Lahti tells us that the reason for the dismissals was not only league matches. The team’s performances in the spring Liigacup did not please the club management.
KuPS played nine matches under Tuut.
– The balance was two wins, two draws and five losses. It’s just not enough. With the material we have in Kuopio, we should be able to perform better, says Lahti.
KuPS is still aiming for the Finnish championship this season, but the main aim of the season is to reach the European place.
– A place in Europe is the minimum goal for this season. It was considered that it is in danger of going this way.
KuPS replaced Tuut, who is already very familiar to the club Jani Honkavaarawho piloted the people of Kuopio to the championship in 2019. He coached the Seinäjoki Football Club in 2020–2021.
KuPS contacted Honkaavaara a day before the dismissals.
– We asked if he is interested. We know Honkavaara well and he has brought three medals to KuPS. The screens were enough and they were quite good even in Seinäjoki.
Lahti says that Honkavaara has been actively following the excerpts from KuPS. Honkavaara stated on Friday to Urheilu that in light of the results, KuPS’s game has been quiet.
– I believe that Jani’s skills are sufficient for the goals we have set, Lahti states.
The game was incomplete
Urheilu caught up with fired Pasi Tuut on Saturday. CEO of KuPS Jarmo Heiskanen came to share the unpleasant news after Friday’s practice.
– Probably everyone can guess the atmosphere. They hardly need to be put into words.
Tuutti says that he gave his all as the head coach of KuPS.
– You can still look at yourself honestly in the mirror and say that I did everything I could. This time it was enough.
What do you say about your game performance?
– It has been unfinished. You will print less often with an unfinished game. It looked unfinished.
Tuutti only managed to work as the head coach of KuPS for three months. He was washed away from the club at the beginning of the year Simo Valakarin to the place.
Did you get enough support and tools from the club?
– The schedule I used to do it was not sufficient. Usually, when some activity is not at a sufficient level, people are fired. Ask any coach, there is always too little time. I took advantage of all the time I got.
“Didn’t go on the right track”
Tuutti was the assistant coach of the KuPS league team in 2020–2022. He can’t say yet how the roads will diverge.
– Now we’re taking a little oxygen and next week we’ll take care of all the practical things. After that, you will know what the final feeling is like when everything is taken care of.
Lahti is saddened that Tuutti, who comes from Kuopio, did not succeed in his task. The club turns one hundred years old this year.
– It would have been great to achieve the goals under the coach from Kuopio during the holiday season. But since we didn’t go on the right track, let’s go with the strength of a familiar coach.
– We have to make sure that the opportunities for places in Europe do not go to the fact that things are wasted. A clear quick decision was made.
