Microsoft has completely removed the Twitter sharing feature from the joystick on Xbox Series X and S, refusing to pay for the API.
You could share the screenshot and video of the game you played on Xbox on Twitter. After the acquisition of Twitter by Elon Musk, some steps taken to make the platform more profitable cause corporate users to walk away. One of them was Microsoft.
Xbox users will no longer be able to post directly to Twitter
When an Xbox user realized that he could not share on Twitter, he sought the solution again on Twitter. Microsoft responded directly to the user via Xbox’s official Twitter account, making the following statement:
“We had to disable the ability to share game downloads to Twitter directly from the console and Game Bar on Windows. You can still share your favorite moments to Twitter via the Xbox app for Android and iOS.”
According to the statement, this feature is only available for mobile device users.
The Twitter API is a middleware for the platform to communicate with other platforms. When you wanted to share on Twitter through another application, communication was carried out thanks to this intermediate application. The effect of this decision on other platforms, taken after Elon Musk announced that the use of the API will be paid in the past days, is not yet clearly known, but we believe that other similar problems may occur in the coming days.
