The Islanders are after goal fireworks

Carolina took to the ice in New York with two victories in the bag and there was little to indicate that there wouldn’t be a third win as well.

The first period was scoreless, but during eleven and a half minutes, from the last minute of the first period and ten into the second period, Carolina had three power plays – which, however, did not result in more than three shots on goal.

Instead, it was the Islanders’ Casey Cizika who scored the game’s first goal with seven minutes left in the second period off a pass from Ryan Pulock. Four minutes later, Carolina equalized through Sweden’s Jesper Fast.

Four quick

The score then stood at 1-1 until 16.09 into the third period – but after that the Islanders offered a record-breaking goal firework.

In a span of two minutes and 16 seconds, the Islanders scored four goals. That’s the fastest four goals in Stanley Cup playoff history. The record-breaking goal scorers were Kyle Palmieri, with assists from Sweden’s Sebastian Aho, Matt Martin, Scott Mayfield and Anders Lee.

It now stands 2-1 in games to Carolina ahead of the two teams’ fourth meeting, which will be played on the night of Monday in the UBS Arena in New York.

Boston win again

In the third meeting between Boston and Florida, who so far won one game each in the first round of the playoffs, it was once again Boston’s turn to defeat Florida and take the lead 2–1 in games.

Boston’s Swedish breakout goaltender Linus Ullmark saved 29 shots and, like the rest of his teammates, had a pretty good night in a 4-2 win against Florida.

The regular season winners Boston showed off several of their skills during the game, leading 4–0 with less than ten minutes left in the game.

Then Florida’s Swede Gustav Forsling managed to get a hole in compatriot Ullmark and reduce Boston’s lead. His teammate Sam Reinhardt then added to the numbers for the final score 4–2.

After the game, Boston coach Jim Montgomery was pleased.

— We saw Boston Bruins hockey today, he said.
