While results for the first four months of the operation is quite mixed (only 20,000 defective devices were part of the device), the government has just announced that it will double repair bonus to encourage households to have their appliances repaired rather than replacing them with new ones. Which devices are affected by the repair bonus?
The repair bonus scheme has been implemented gradually since mid-December 2022. As of 2023, the following devices are eligible:
- Washing machine

- Vacuum
- Fridge
- Freezer
- Wine cellar
- Cook
- Small appliances for breakfast: kettle, toaster, filter coffee maker…
- Pod or automatic coffee machine
- Ironing appliances: iron, steamer…
- Screwdriver drill
- Television
- Cellphone
- Tablet
- Laptop
- Digital camera
- Pregnant
- Game console
- Bicycle and electric scooter.
From 2024 are added to this list:
- Oven, microwave oven
- Food processors
- Desktop.
Then from 2025:
- Hygiene devices (electric epilator, trimmer, etc.)
- Air conditioner
- Fan
- humidifier
- Air purifier.
What is the amount of the repair bonus?
The amount of the repair bonus depends on the product you are going to have repaired. This ranges from 10 euros for a toaster to 45 euros for a laptop computer, passing through 25 euros for a washing machine or a fridge. Good news, from July 1, 2023, the bonus will double.
